在藍調與爵士樂的歷史裡，總有些才華洋溢卻默默無名的人，Claire Austin 便是其中之一。1918年出生於美國華盛頓州，30-40年代開始於夜總會駐唱，並隨著樂隊於美國各地巡迴演出，直到50年代才開始灌錄唱片。Claire Austin 雖然知名度不高，卻擁有一副溫暖動聽的好嗓音，歌唱詮釋風格更被譽為結合 Mildred Bailey、Peggy Lee 與 Billie Holiday 誘人氣質的西岸爵士女伶。
 
本套黑膠收錄 Claire Austin 分別於1954與1956年發行的兩張專輯《Sings The Blues》與《When Your Lover Has Gone》。其中《When Your Lover Has Gone》請來 Shelly Manne、Barney Kessel 以及 Bob Scobey 等多位西岸明星爵士樂手助陣，讓專輯中的經典情歌更添風味。而1954年灌錄的《Sings The Blues》則展現了 Claire Austin 詮釋藍調歌曲的精湛唱功。
