1934年11月21日，年僅17歲的艾拉•費茲潔蘿以業餘身份參加了紐約第125街的阿波羅劇院每週例行比賽。原本要準備跳舞的她，臨時報名歌唱項目，沒想到一巨星誕生了。她就是後來人稱爵士第一夫人，永遠的爵士女伶。
 
過去她締造了爵士歌手橫跨葛萊美獎爵士、流行與R&B獎項的頭銜，也在錄音紀錄中創下最多不同演出形式的範例。其中更以16張專輯詮釋美國精典作曲家的"歌曲輯"系列錄音，最教人激賞與懷念。2016年10月份在阿波羅劇院同一地點，樂界最期待的艾拉•費茲潔蘿百年紀念演唱會，盛大開演。
 
這個音樂會當中邀請跨越幾個世代，並受到她影響的男女歌手，以及合唱團的加入。Patti Austin演唱1940年代的冠軍歌曲「A Tisket, A Tasket」，另外也與Afro Blue合唱團共同合唱「How High The Moon」;年輕一代的Lizz Wright則是詮釋「Love You Madly」與「The Nearness Of You」兩首經典名曲。中生代兩位傳奇歌手Cassandra Wilson與Ledisi，分別與貝西伯爵大樂隊合作演唱「Cry Me a River」與「Honeysuckle Rose」。
 
為了呈現百年傳承的完整感受，不僅還原1934年透過廣播的主持現場，最後以一首艾拉•費茲潔蘿在布達佩斯現長場演唱的「People」，劃下完美句點。

In 1934, a 17-year old singer named Ella Fitzgerald took the stage at the legendary Apollo Theater in Harlem during Amateur Night and took home first prize, launching an extraordinary career which spanned over decades and crowned her "The First Lady of Song." The new release Ella 100: Live at the Apollo! was recorded during live tribute concert at the Apollo, honoring Ella Fitzgerald's 100 birthday and commemorating the discovery of her talent. Featuring vocalists Patti Austin with David Alan Grier, Lizz Wright, Cassandra Wilson, Ledisi, Monica Mancini. The live album also features The Count Basie Orchestra and The Ella 100 All-Star Quartet, which consists of Shelly Berg, Nathan East, Gregg Field and Brian Nova.
