影片的全球票房超過2億美金，由1982年以百老匯音樂劇作品「異形奇花」闖出名號的紐約作曲家Alan Menken擔綱配樂，作詞家Howard Ashman更以本片音樂與歌曲"Under The Sea"斬獲5座大獎，包括：奧斯卡與金球獎的「原創音樂獎」，奧斯卡、金球獎與葛萊美獎的「最佳原創歌曲獎」（*電影中的另一首歌曲"Kiss The Girl"也入圍此項）。
