費斯阿金的前作《愛無止盡》不僅橫掃柏林影展和歐洲電影獎，也讓幫他配樂的亞歷山大哈克，從此迷上了土耳其豐富多元的音樂。本片即跟著他的腳步穿梭在伊斯坦堡的大街小巷，從饒舌、搖滾、地下樂團、民謠、老歌到傳奇巨星，聽到耳朵出油，甚至還有令人聞聲落淚的庫德族吟唱。其形式讓人聯想到《樂士浮生錄》，但音樂的精彩多元，及背後所透露的政治歷史文化因素，只有過之，而無不及。
