The common thread—as so often in The Romantic
Piano Concerto series—is Liszt, in whose Weimar
circle both composer-pianists featured here moved.
Both concertos are pleasingly substantial, and the
typically demanding piano writing is powerfully
dispatched by Emmanuel Despax.
