Jean-Franqois Heisser's interpretation of the five concertos and his chamber orchestra allows us to appreciate the evolution of Beethoven's writing during the ten decisive years of their composition, straddling the 18th and the 19th century : how the virtuoso improvisational pianist of the first two Concertos conceived at the end of the 18th century in the wake of Mozart and Haydn asserts himself a composer from the beginning of the 19th century by the third Concerto to culminate with the surprises of the last two.
