Mainland director and actor Jiang Wen and renowned Japanese composer Hisaishi Joe team up for the acclaimed film The Sun Also Rises. Beautifully shot and brimming with life, Jiang's third directorial feature co-stars Jaycee Chan, Joan Chen, Anthony Wong, and Zhou Yun. Making use of an elliptical narrative with overlapping threads, the film opens in 1976 with the topsy-turvy lives of a young man and his crazed mother in a quiet village. In another part of China, a harried university professor attracts the attentions of a seductive nurse and an accusing mob, and seemingly unrelated lives begin to intersect.
The Sun Also Rises features a grand and graceful score from master composer Hisaishi Joe. Perhaps best known for his work on Miyazaki Hayao films like Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Hisaishi has long established a brand with his striking compositions, and this soundtrack marks the first collaboration between two highly influential figures in Asian cinema. The Sun Also Rises OST comes with 21 tracks, including two versions of the song Singanushiga.
